Chaukori
Overview of Chaukori
Chaukori that stands 2010m above sea level is one of the beautiful hill stations located in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. This belongs to the Kumaon section of the Himalayan mountain range. Due to the absolutely brilliant scenes and views that this place offers, Chaukori is often referred to as Kumaon’s Heaven. Tibet and Terai prove to be the perfect protector on Chaukori’s northern and southern boundaries respectively. One of the striking features about Chaukori is the clean air that blows across the mountains. The hill station is located in a remote location in Pithoragarh district, therefore, this place is devoid of any kind of pollution. The place is famous for its ancient places of worship that are scattered all over.
Chaukori was initially chosen by the British rulers for its scenic location as an apt place for establishing tea plantations. The soil here was considered to be very fertile and the ambience was excellent as the place was situated far from the maddening pace of the commercial section of the state. Even today, the tea estates that are found here in plenty are major tourist attractions in Chaukori. From time immemorial, Chaukori has been one of the important viewing places, as it is from this point that the majestic peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhanba and Panchchuli are clearly visible.
Geographical location

Located at about 2010m above sea level, Chaukori is housed within the Pithoragarh district of the North Indian state of Uttarakhand. This is inclined at 29.84 degrees towards the North and 80.03 degrees towards the East.
