The nearby railway station is at Joginder Nagar. This railway station is situated about 103 km from Rohtang Pass. From Railway station one can take bus service or taxi service to reach Manali. From Manali, there are jeeps that take people to Rohtang Pass. Manali lies approximately 50 km from Joginder Nagar.

The ideal time to visit Rohtang Pass is between the months of June and October. Only during this period, the pass remains open. The permit to travel from Manali to Leh is issued at various places like Tourist Information Center Manali, SDM Office Manali, Office of HPTDC, Green tax barrier at Chauri-Bihal and Shuru. Cars and Motor Bikes travelling to Rohtang Pass should pay congestion fee of Rs. 50. Traffic is permitted only from 4 AM till 11 PM. Only 400 tourist vehicles are permitted in a day from Manali to Rohtang Pass. Only Rohtang Pass vehicles are allowed to travel between 6 and 11 AM. After this time, traffic is closed for tourists. The vehicles are permitted to return back from Rohtang Pass to Manali between 11 AM and 6 PM. Any sort of violation in this rule may even lead to vehicle seize.
