Hampi
Hampi Karnataka:
Hampi Karnataka is in the capital city of Vijayanagar. It was founded by two brothers Bukkaraya and Harihara under the guidance of their Guru Vidyaranya. Hampi history tells that it was a large Hindu empire with a many trading centers of the world. Hampi Karnataka was a hub for rubies, diamonds and all precious stones were sold on the streets in large quantities. Gold and Silver were the currencies. According to the Hampi history, it was built in the year 1336. It was a great centre for trade, devotees and poets. There were a number of temples spread over the city. Hampi history tells that Lord Rama met Hanumantha and killed Vali in Hampi. Sultan of Deccan attacked the golden empire thus put an end of the city around 1565.
Hampi Vijayanagra Architecture:
Hampi Vijayanagra architecture falls in three categories—Civil, Military and Religious. The common factor among all the three is that the whole of Hampi’s architecture projects out the Vijayanagar School of architecture with bold, coarse and plane style. Hampi’s architecture stands out in its irrigation structures. The remains of Bukka’s aqueduct in Anegondi gives an example of such projects. Large temples enclosed within giant compound walls speak out the fineness of Hampi’s architecture. Gatways are made up of tall pyramidcal towers. The principle shrine is the centre of the campus and the main towered gateway are in the sale axis. Principle shrines are surrounded by auxillary shrines of the Goddess and gods of the Hindus.
Hampi Location and Hampi Timings:
Hampi location is a village in northern Karnataka state. Hamps’ location is within the ruins of Vijayanagara. It is an important religious centre. Hospet railway station is 190 kms and Bangalore railway statin is 353 kms away from Hampi. KSRTC buses ply regularly from Hospet to Hampi.
