Zuluk
An Introduction about Zuluk and its location
Zuluk stands tall at about 3000m above sea level towards the Eastern portion of Sikkim. Located close to the sensitive border of India and China, tourists need to possess valid permits from the concerned authorities in order to enter Zuluk. This place is home to quite a few army bases, therefore travelling inside this place without a proper permit is considered to be a punishable offence. In the olden days, Zuluk used to be an important point on the Silk Route that connected Sikkim to Tibet. This is one of the beautiful places in Sikkim and the snow clad peaks during the winter season are visual treats for the sore eyes of the visitors. Once spring blossoms, the entire area becomes colourful with a host of flowers of different colours and shapes blooming in their full forms. The huge Kanchenjunga Peak can be viewed from Zuluk very clearly.
How to reach Zuluk
Air – Bagdogra airport which is an 8-hour drive from Zuluk is the nearest airport.
Rail – New Jalpaiguri which is again an 8-hour drive from Zuluk is the closest railway station.
Road – Zuluk is a 7-hour drive from Siliguri and a 4-hour drive from Gangtok. Many vehicles can be hired for travelling to Zuluk from these important places.
Local transport – Travelling by foot is the best option for exploring the beauty of Zuluk.
Sightseeing and Activities in Zuluk
There are lots of temples and lakes within the hills of Zuluk and one can trek across to visit them. In addition to this, Zuluk is also home to many exotic and rare species of wildlife and birds, which keep the nature lovers engaged in Zuluk. The wildlife reserves of Zuluk are abode to animals and birds like Snow Pheasant, Blood Pheasant, Monal Pheasant, Red Pandas, Snow Leopard, Tiger, Himalayan Bear and Deer.
Where to eat and stay in Zuluk
There are no great restaurants that stand out in Zuluk. There are no hotels as well. The only best option to stay is a serviced apartment named Palzor Home-Stay that is managed by a family belonging to the Lepcha clan. This is a comfortable place with great ambience and typical Sikkim hospitality. Momos and Chowmein are the local delicacies here.

STD and PIN numbers are not available in Zuluk. Police, Fire and Ambulance services can be accessed by dialling 100,101 and 102 respectively.

Banks - There are no banks here as Zuluk is a very small hill station. One needs to come to East Sikkim for accessing banks.
Hospitals - There are no hospitals here and one need to come to the main city of Sikkim to access medical care facilities.
