History and Overview of Kulathupuzha
Kollam district of Kerala is one of the most picturesque places in the state as it has the famous Bharathapuzha River running through it. Kulathupuzha is a beautiful village in this district and is embedded nicely within greenery and excellent sceneries all around the place. It is located on the national highway connecting Kollam and Sengottai. This little village is famous for three places – the Sastha temple dedicated to Lord Iyappan, the Dairy Farm and the Wildlife Reserve Forest within its premises. This village comes to life to during the months between April and May during the festival of Vishu.
Located on the national highway of Kollam – Sengottai sector, Kulathupuzha is nicely located in such a way that it is easily accessible through all modes of transport. Kollam district and the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram are located at about 64km and 62km far from this place respectively. Kadakkal area is about 20km far from here. Kulathupuzha is inclined 8.90 degrees towards the North and 77.05 degrees towards the East.

Sastha Temple – Kulathupuzha is famous for its Sastha shrine. The presiding deity here is Bala Sastha or Ayappan. Every year, during the festival of Vishu, lots of events and festivities are conducted in the temple premises which are attended by many foreign and Indian tourists.
Dairy Farm – This is the first dairy farm in India to have used such high-definition technology under the able support of the Indian Government. Here, calves are bred, fed and milked using highly sophisticated methods to obtain the highest quality of milk.
Reserve Forest – The forest covers of Kulathupuzha are dominated by a dense growth of eucalyptus, acacia and teak trees. These forests are located in an expanse of land covering over 100sq.km.
