Almost every family in Nedumkandam has a cow, therefore, this hill station proves to be the main source of milk supply for neighbouring towns like Kochi, Kottayam and many more. While pepper cultivators are mostly Malayalees, cardamom cultivators are mostly Tamilians who have settled in Nedumkandam from their native villages like Cumbum, Bodi and Madurai areas.
