Kanatal
Overview of Kanatal
Situated at a height of 8500 feet above sea level, Kanatal stands tall and calm in the Tehri district of Uttarakhand. This is quiet and serene hill station which has snow-clad peaks at its backdrop, dense and green forests all around and a relaxing ambience all over. Legend has it, that this is where Lord Shiva carried Goddess Sati’s corpse on this Trishul. The presiding deity in this temple is Goddess Sati. The rich history of this temple makes it very sacred as it is believed by all the locals that Lord Shiva himself had set foot here. This temple is located at a whopping 9995 feet above sea level and offers a phenomenal view of the Uttarakhand state. A small trek of around 2km is required from the Mussoorie route to reach this shrine.
