Gangolihat
Overview of Gangolihat
Gangolihat is a small hill station located in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. This place is quite sacred as it is contains the Sakthi Peedams of Hat Kalika, belonging to Goddess Kali. Another remarkable feature of this place is the presence of many underground caves here. This is a scenic place that offers a spectacular view of the Nanda Devi and Panchchuli Peaks.
In the local language, Gang refers to river. The hill station of Gangolihat is bordered by two rivers – Sarayu and Ramganga. These rivers intersect at the base of this hill station. It is mainly due to the presence of these two rivers that this hill station resembles a garland on the majestic Himalayan Mountains. This explains the second part of the name Awali, which means garland. Hat denotes the markets and bazaars that have been existing in this place for quite a long time.
