Snow Skiing in Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu & Kashmir, located in the northernmost part of India, is one of the most beautiful places in the world, especially during winter season. Many poets have described this place as “Paradise on Earth”. With snow-capped peaks all around, Jammu & Kashmir looks like a white carpet is spread over it during winters. The state receives abundant snowfall during the peak seasons, which makes it possible for adventure sports activities like snow-skiing, parasailing, paragliding, heli-skiing etc. It was during 1927 that snow-skiing was started off in the state by the British. Since then, this activity has been one of the biggest crowd pullers during winters. There are two places in the state where snow-skiing is practiced commonly. They are Gulmarg and Pahalgam. Out of the two, Gulmarg is more famous because the snow slopes here are considered to be the 7th best in the continent of Asia. There are lots of skiing tour packages available in the state during the winter season to attract national and international tourists.

There are lots of flights connecting this airport with important airports like Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and all nearby states. There are a couple of other domestic airports located here at Leh and Jammu.

Skiing spots in Jammu & Kashmir
The two famous skiing spots in the state of Jammu & Kashmir are Gulmarg and Pahalgam. Gulmarg is the more famous of the two. During winters, the place receives abundant layers of snowfall, which makes it a wonderful place to engage in snow skiing. If you are a beginner or have reasonable experience in snow skiing, Gulmarg is the right place for you. The facilities that are available at the Gulmarg skiing resort are on par with international standards. The skiing slopes can be accessed from a height of 13000feet above sea level and there are twin peaks of Nun and Kun from which the entire town of Gulmarg is visible quite beautifully.
Approximate charges of snow skiing at the skiing spots in the state
The skiing charges in Gulmarg mainly comprise of the rental charges of the skiing equipment and accessories and the ticket prices of the Gondola cable car, which is one the highest cars in the world. If you want to take snowboards and skiing equipment on rent from government owned shops, it would cost you around 300 INR per day. However you might have to compromise on quality. These equipments may not be up to the mark and the quality may be shoddy. If you want high quality of equipment, you must be ready to shell out at least 1000INR per day per person in all the areas of Jammu & Kashmir.
