Hawa Mahal
Hawa Mahal History:
In the year 1799 Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh built Hawa Mahal Jaipur. Hawa Mahal History tells that Lal Chand Ustad designed it in the form of the crown of Lord Krishna. Maharaj Sawai Jai Singh, the ruler of Kachwaha clan built the Jaipur city in 1727. His grandson Sawai Pratap Singh built Hawa Mahal in 1799 as a continuation of the Royal City Palace. It is believed that Hawa Mahal was built for the ladies of Royal family so as they get an opportunity to witness proceedings and royal processions and festivities sitting behind the stone carved screens. Hawa Mahal History also tells that the Royal family of Jaipur used the Mahal as a hot weather retreat during the summer season.
Hawa Mahal Jaipur Architecture:
The Hawal Mahal architecture cannot be expressed in simple words. The palace is a five-story pyramidal shaped monument rising to a height of 50 ft. The first and second floors have patios in front of them and top three floors have a dimension of one room width. The front elevation which is like a honeycomb web of a beehive built with small portholes is the best part of Hawa Mahal architecture. Each porthole has a minute window and has carved sandstone grills, finials and domes. The inner face on the back side of the building consists of chambers built with pillars and corridors. The interior of the Hawa Mahal has rooms of different colored marbles and fountains in the center of the courtyard. Hawa Mahal architecture is enhanced by an imperial door from the city palace. Hawa Mahal Jaipur was the favorite resort of Maharaja Jai Singh because of its elegance and built-in interior.
Hawa Mahal Location and Hawa Mahal Timings:
Hawa Mahal location is in the Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. It is next to the entrance of the City Palace. The Hawa Mahal timings are from 9.00 a.m. in the morning till 5 p.m. in the evening. The best Hawa Mahal timings for sightseeing is from October to February.
