Peruvannamuzhi is a beautiful village in the district of Kozhikode in Kerala. This place is a huge tourist attraction as it houses many features like a dam, wildlife reserve and a research institute. The dam known as Peruvannamuzhi Dam is one of the most scenic places in this village and is a great picnic spot for families to spend some quiet time with each other. The wildlife reserve of Malabar area, which is one of the new projects initiated by the Kerala State Government, also includes a part of Peruvannamuzhi. The flora and fauna that is on display in this reserve captivates the fancy of many a nature lover. As per recent statistics, around 90 different varieties of birds are seen here. The reservoir and crocodile park, that are found here offer unlimited entertainment to the tourists who come here large numbers.
There is an exclusive institute that is set up here for conducting researches and analyses on Indian Spices, known as Indian Institute of Spices Research. Another institution, by name Krishi Vigyan Kendra Farm, which specialises on the study of crops, is visited by many tourists and schools as part of educational tours. The local inhabitants of Peruvannamuzhi follow Christianity in large numbers; therefore the place has a number of churches like Fathima Matha Catholic Church and others that form part of the St. George’s Forane Church Institutions.

The small village of Peruvannamuzhi is located in Kozhikode district of Kerala. It is inclined at 11.35 degrees towards the North and 75.49 degrees towards the East.

Air – Kozhikode or Calicut Airport, at a distance of around 80km, is the nearest airport to Peruvannamuzhi.
Rail – Kozhikode Railway station, at a distance of around 60km, is the nearest railway station to Peruvannamuzhi.
Road – The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation and private operators run many buses on a daily basis to Peruvannamuzhi from various parts of Kerala. There are also taxis available from Kozhikode to this village, the rates of which are slightly on a higher side.
Local transport – Since Peruvannamuzhi Dam is the major tourist attraction, this place is best experienced when travelled on foot.

Peruvannamuzhi Dam, reservoir, crocodile farm, various churches, Institute for Spice Research and the Malabar wildlife reserve are some of the attractive sight-seeing places in and around Peruvannamuzhi. Tourists can engage in trekking in the nearby hills, boating activities in the reservoir and wildlife safaris in the reserves when they come for a trip to this village.

Some of these hotels offer international cuisine like Chinese and Thai as well, but the local Kerala, especially Malabar specialities like fish curry, chicken curry and fluffy Parathas are must-try options here.
