While speaking about Athirappally, the first thing that comes to our mind is the effervescent Athirappally Waterfalls. However, there is more to this place than just the waterfalls. It is not without reason that Athirappally is the darling location of many film makers. The waterfalls that falls at a height of 80 feet are one of the tallest in the state of Kerala. Since the terrain from Chalakudy town to the Athirappally and Vazhachal Falls is quite challenging, tourists are requested to refrain from driving in this path during the night hours. There is a dense forest area around the Vazhachal Falls, which has been declared as an “Important Bird Area” by the International Birds Association.
