Overview of Pauri
The town of Pauri, which is situated in the district of Pauri Garhwal of Uttarakhand, is visited by many tourists all through the year because of the spectacular view from this place, of the majestic Himalayan Mountains. Especially during the spine-chilling winter seasons, the snow-clad mountains peaks that are visible from here are quite a sight. Some of the peaks that are clearly visible from the 181m tall Pauri town are Group of Gangotri Peaks, Neelkanth, Bandar Poonch, Nandadevi and Trishul, Kedarnath, Satopanth, Ghoriparvat, Sumeru, Hathiparvat, Chaukambha , Swarga-Rohini and Kharcha Kund. This place offers some of the greatest trekking trails of the country. These trails are covered with thick growth of deodar trees that adds more beauty to the place.
Pauri stands at 1814m above sea level in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. It is located at 30.15 degrees towards the North and 78.78 degrees towards the East.
How to reach and local transport
Air – At 133km, Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun, is situated, which is the closet to Pauri.
Rail – Kotdwara railway station, which is well connected to all other stations of Uttarakhand and other nearby states, is the nearest to Pauri.
Road – Pauri is well connected to important places like Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Kotdwara and Delhi by buses and taxis.
Local transport – Travelling on foot is the only option available to go within the town of Pauri.

Temples like Kyonkaleshwar, Nag Dev, Hanuman, Laxmi Narayan and Kandoliya, District Library, Methodist Church, Chaukambha View Point, Ransi Ground, Catholic Church, Khirsu Village and Dhara Market Road are some of the must-see places in Pauri town. Trekking and paragliding are the two important activities that tourists can indulge in when they come to Pauri.
